Welcome Ultra Runners!
2019 Race Date — The 2019 Glacial Esker 40 (GE40) will take place at Chain O’Lakes State Park on April 27th. Please save the date to be a part of our event. The Glacial Esker 40 features a 40 mile and 20 mile run.
2019 Race Registration — Registration for the 2019 Glacial Esker 40 is now open. To register, please enter online through the GE40/IGNITE Trail Series website, under Entry/Registration or use the following RunSignUp link: https://runsignup.com/Race/IN/Albion/glacialesker.
No Deferrals/No Refunds/No Transfers — There are no deferrals, no refunds, and no transfers for any reason, including injury. However, runners are allowed to switch from the 40 miler to the 20 miler, and vice versa, after you have signed up. Please note that you cannot switch races on race day.
Training Runs — The March training run dates are 3/2 and 3/16.
The group will run one loop (20 miles) but some runners will go further and some less. Please note that the GE40 course will go in the opposite direction of the IT100 course. The Saturday winter training runs are a good way for runners considering the GE40 and IT100 to check out the course and discuss strategy with several local ultra runners. We typically see runners from all over the Midwest during these runs.
Please note that some of the designated training runs will have rolling aid stations. But plan on being self-sufficient and have backup hydration/nutrition with you while running.
FA50K — The tentative date is 3/30. If trail conditions are subpar we'll move it to 4/6.
The group will run up to 31 miles but some runners will go less. We'll use the GE40 course and have rolling aid stations available as a courtesy to our runners and volunteers preparing for the race. A group invite may be sent out prior to this note.
Trail Maintenance Day — 4/13 (Two weeks before the GE40). A group invite may be sent out prior to this note. It’s a great opportunity for our runners to give back and clean up the course that they’ll be running on for the race.
Bibs — If you want your bib personalized you’ll need to register before 3/15.
Green Initiative — We're very pleased to announce that the Glacial Esker 40 is going green. Our race on 4/27 will promote responsible initiatives to reduce waste and increase recycling. We've always taken a zero tolerance approach to litter on the trails but now we’ll add to it by going cupless.
As part of your entry fee, our runners will receive a cup through HydraPak, which can be used during the GE40. Additionally, we'll have a Go Green Volunteer at every aid station to assist in all recycling efforts. We'll do everything we can to provide the greenest event for our runners while being sensitive to their race needs.
Volunteers — The IT100 is known for its volunteers and the GE40 will soon have the same reputation. For information on how you can you can join our team as a volunteer please contact Steve Carr at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Site Protocol — Our website and Facebook Forum/Event Page is specific to the GE40. Topics discussed include ultra running in general but the focus is primarily on our event as an informational guide to our runners.
Since we are not a generic running site we do not permit advertisements or solicitations of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, any running events/sites or their sponsors. We’ll remove all material, links, etc., that don’t meet the aforementioned criteria.
